This amazing 5 days kayak and bike adventure leads you to the kingdom of the birds of prey in Europe - Eastern Rhodope mountains. Bike days challenge your body and imagination. Kayak paddling takes you along the outstanding sheltered loughs of the mountain lakes.

Tour description:

Day 1

Starting point is in the city of Kardzhali. The bike route takes you along an interesting nature phenomenon - a whole wedding made of lime stone. The landscape is changing between forest and open spaces. Another impressive rock complex Perperikon is on the way. This one will bring you back in Thracian and Roman times. Mosaic landscape continues to follow in this bike adventure until you reach the beautiful lake of Studen kladenets. Bike for the day is around 32 km.

Day 2

The following day is for kayaking in the blue lake water surrounded by picturesque shores and rich flora. Rare birds like griffon vulture and black stork roam in the sky. Many herons and cormorants will also share this lake adventure. Crossing the lake Studen kladenets is unforgettable with its green slopes rising directly from the water. You will arrive on the shores of a small island where the Follow deer is the host - dozen of them roam freely on the island and give a birth to their babies here. This is a land of absolute peace, managed by the nature itself. This paddling day finishes in a nice village and where you stay in a guest house for the night. Time spent in the water is 5 hours, together with visiting the hidden waterfall. Distance covered is 18 km.

Day 3

Bike will be your friend today and it will lead you to places of overwhelming beauty, along meandering Arda river and in the foothills of the mountain slopes. The landscape changes every hour with stunning views, remarkable volcanic cliffs, bucolic environment and authentic villages. The bike trip goes ahead to discover the great area of the ancient volcano of Madzharovo. The river Arda meanders through green forests and rich wildlife territories reaching the dramatically sculpted volcanic rocks. After 52 km of biking in the magnificent nature areas you arrive in a small village at the bank of the lake Ivaylovgrad where you spent the night.

Day 4

On this day you make a memorable crossing of Ivaylovgrad lake which features exceptional experience and wild nature. If you need an escape from the noisy modern life, this lake is the perfect location for you. Impressive rocks rise from the water and romantic gulfs capture your eyes and soul. Hidden in the forest camp sites give you opportunity to relax in solitude. The final destination is the end of the lake which comes after 33 km and 7 hours of paddling (short breaks included).

Day 5

On the last day of this amazing kayaking adventure you will visit the Ancient Roman villa to discover more hidden secrets of past and present in this incredibly diverse mountain. A bus will transfer the group back to the city of Kardzhali. Expected time of arrival in Kardzhali is 14:00 o'clock.

The tour is organized with a luggage transportation - a car is carrying the main luggage during the day. You bring only a small backpack with the basics for the day.

Difficulty grade: You need to be in average physical condition. Some parts could be a challenge, but in general the trip is easy going. Good MTB experience is recommended.

Level of comfort: Accommodation is in guest houses or cottages, breakfast and dinner are included, main luggage is carried by car during the day. We pass through villages and shelters, where water and some beverages are available.

Bike experience: Recommended.

Kayak experience: Not necessary.
